Malik Hasan

Chief Investigator

Malik “Mal” Hasan is a seasoned legal professional from Buffalo, New York. He attended college on both academic and athletic scholarships, where he served as Vice President of the Undergraduate Management Program and was a member of the college soccer team. Mal earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Buffalo.

For more than 20 years, he has worked at the Office of the Public Defender, 15th Judicial Circuit, where he has handled misdemeanor and felony cases, including serious and major crimes. In addition to his legal work, he trains and directs the office’s Investigations Department, overseeing a team of 12 investigators. His extensive experience and commitment to justice have made him a trusted advocate within the criminal defense field.

Outside of the office, Mal continues to give back to his community through youth athletics. He serves as President and Director of Coaching for a local soccer program and is the head coach of a high school soccer team, where he mentors young athletes both on and off the field. He is an avid sports fan; especially to his beloved Buffalo Bills.
